The Downfall

Remember that if there's only one truth then all other truths must be false. Sometimes we mix our personal beliefs with God's word in order to justify what we believe. But if God's word is absolute, only one thing can remain and that is the truth of the Word of God. All isms, ideologies and personal beliefs come second to that. This is detrimental to the state of the believer. There are moments where we want to administer the gospel to people but due to the fact that we are wrapped up in our own beliefs, we do the Word of God a disservice. We deliver it from a place of insecurity. I'm talking about the "this is how I feel" kind of gospel. The kind of gospel that only talks about the blessings of God but never challenges the heart of the man or woman. The kind of gospel that talks about what we can get out of God bt never about what God free;y gives us. Salvation through Jesus Christ.  I believe that hen we take personal beliefs and isms and mix them w

I'm Offended

How many of us have ever been offended by someone? How many of us have had to contemplate forgiving someone for an offense? How many of us felt the urge to then gossip about the person that offended us? I'm pretty sure that at some point in life, there have been instances where you may have forgiven someone of an offense but immediately after you've forgiven them, you talk negatively about them. You slander their name as if you never actually forgave them. This is in no way making light of the offense but it is something to think about. While some of the things you say about them may be true, the question is are those same things worth complaining about? Often times when I find myself in a place of talking bad about a person who wronged me, I realize that the conversation isn't so much about the person as it is the very thing that the person did that made me upset. I realized that I was operating from a place of pain. I was operating from a place of unforgiveness.

What Are You Willing To Sacrifice?

And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. | Matthew 10:38 And He said to all, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. | Luke 9:23 What are you willing to sacrifice? Jesus says that if anyone who doesn't take up their cross they are not worthy of Him. Jesus is looking for people that are willing to deny their flesh daily in order to follow Him. In fact, in order to truly follow Jesus as a worthy disciple, it will require sacrifice. A lot of times our flesh gets in the way of what God wants to do through us as disciples. Our flesh gets in the way of God's very will for our lives.  What is the flesh? The flesh isn't just the physical matter of human beings, the flesh is whatever is contrary to the Spirit of God. The flesh causes us to do things that pleases us as it pertains to our carnality. The carnality of man is anything that relates to the five senses. It means that

Who Are You?

If God said it, believe it. Everyone walks through life looking for their identity. Looking for meaning and purpose. Often times we look in the wrong places. It can be any noun under the sun; people, places and things. But true identity can be found in the security of God. God says that you're His son. God says that you're His daughter. So if God says these things, why not believe it? The problem is that we are listening to the world. We're listening to the media. We're listening to the opinions of other people. We're listening to rejection. We're listening to the lies of the enemy. But what about that still small voice that speaks to us all of the time? That still small voice that doesn't lie to you but instead constantly reminds you that you are His. That still small voice that shows patience. That still small voice that waits for you and welcomes you back with open arms. That still small voice that affirms you as His own. This still small voice made

Corona Virus Tagged Our World With Our Feet Off Base

It's like a tough game when we try to play fair We didn't know that this fearful crisis was ever so near  It came in with a sudden blast, we had no clue  But no one really knew what to do It struck like lightning way up in the sky and shook the world with people from far and nigh It clapped like thunder, what a massive sound It twisted the world like a spinning wheel going round and round We are unable to determine when this invisible virus will no longer be around  Morning, noon and midnight lurching down on us without a sound It didn't come like snowflakes that quickly melted away It didn't come through the night and vanished by the break of day But it came almost as quick as the bat of an eye as swift as a rainbow moves in the sky As we continue with this challenge not knowing the outcome We are grateful and appreciative of what others have done We can stand and rest assure that GOD is bigger than any virus we know And he wil

Success

You can be successful with anything. You can literally be successful with anything that you put your mind to. Although the results of success are mostly seen from the perspective of the top of the iceberg, very rarely do we pay attention to what goes on at the bottom of the iceberg. It’s about how. How did you make it to where you wanted to be? It’s a matter of making a plan and sticking to that plan until you see the results you have been looking for.  I want to highlight some of the key components when it comes to achieving success. Those components are Discipline and Persistence. I believe that most of every action and or step that it takes to reach success falls under the umbrella of these two principles. The more disciplined you are, the more persistent you’ll be. Discipline requires sacrifice, late nights, and hard work according to the examples given in the picture above. Sometimes you have to sacrifice sleep, which then leads to late nights. And from that sacrifice, yo

God vs Money

We can talk about God’s blessings all day, but if the success you’ve gained was obtained immorally in the sight of God, then it wasn’t God that gave you that success. It was yourself. What if I told you that you could gain the whole world without God’s help and lose your soul in the process? What if I told you that just because it looks good, it doesn’t mean it’s God? What if I told you that your swollen pockets aren’t necessarily a sign that God is “in the blessing business?” The reality is that people (Christians included) have made money their God, and it’s impossible to serve God and money. God isn’t the author of quick fixes and fast money. In fact true blessings are obtained through the obedience of the one who loves God, serves God and puts God first in a way that honors Him. So what master do you serve? The dollar? Or Jesus? "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You ca

Opinion vs Truth

Sometimes we mix our personal beliefs with the word of God. We misinterpret the meaning of certain scripture because we’re filtering the truth through our emotions. If only we could get to a place where our perceptions submit to the truth of the word of God rather than allowing our own feelings and personal agendas to twist its original meaning for our own selfish gain. That’s called heresy. When your opinion trumps the word of God, you miss out on what He’s originally been trying to communicate to you. Truth hurts, even cuts sometimes (Hebrews 4:12). But I’d rather truth than a faulty belief or opinion. Because ultimately, the Truth Himself will set you free. For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. | Hebrews 4:12  ~ Jesus answered,  “I am  the way  and the truth  and the life.  No one come

Traffic Jam

So I was sitting in traffic today and I was the happiest I could ever be. Now I know I know, traffic isn't the greatest gift to mankind. The science of traffic continues to amaze me as to how and why it takes so long to get from point A to point B in 45 minutes when on a good day, it would usually take 5 minutes. Traffic felt a little different today though. Sure I had somewhere to be and yes I was stuck in the dead center of it, but I was content. I had my Snarky Puppy going, Vitamin water in the cup-holder. Couldn't complain! While being stuck in the middle of traffic and being the happiest black man in the world I thought to myself, "Why am I so happy in the middle of this traffic jam?" The answer was found in my focus.       Now usually when I get caught up in the 5 o'clock rush I'm always looking around trying to see where I can make my next move. I'm usually trying to see if I can get ahead of other cars, scoping out the quickest rout
